A Video Date is a video call made inside the App by pressing the big blue video icon next to any of the matches found on your ‘Matches’ screen. We understand that this concept can be daunting, and it’s comforting to see exactly how this looks.
GHulah’s technology protects our user’s personal information, and no phone number will be shared on our end. However, if you wish to send one of your matches your number via chat after going on a Video Date, please do!
We believe that 5 minutes is the right amount of time for users to determine if they have mutual chemistry. If you figure this out sooner than 5 minutes, you can end the date by pressing the red phone icon at the bottom of the screen during your Video Date.
Once you’ve completed a Video Date, the next screen will ask you to choose to either Chat, Stay Matched, Block, or Report. If you decide to stay matched, we encourage you to chat with that user and follow up about your VideoDate. Or, you could always Video Date with them again and continue your conversation! We love to hear your success stories! Please send them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
A user’s Video Date button will be greyed out if they have not yet recorded their Video Verification. You can tap the 3 dot menu on their Match profile and send them a quick message telling them to “Record your video verification so we can go on a Video Date!”
If your volume is turned on you will hear a real Goat ringtone (‘Baaaa’) plus, you will see a notification pop-up that shows someone is calling you. Tap the notification to pick up, and your Video Date will start shortly after. See visual below.
We call this the cheat sheet! When you tap the star it opens up the users profile that you are Video Dating with, giving you a chance to refer to their ‘Ask Me About’ information or maybe make a comment on one of their pictures! This comes in handy when you are on a Video Date so you have plenty of things to talk about.
We have a zero tolerance policy for violation of any of our Community Rules. This means that we reserve the right to penalize or ban any user for any violation at our discretion to protect our Rule abiding users. If you experience anything that you think violates our Community Rules, please be proactive and Contact Us.
The Hulah administrators are constantly monitoring any and all behavior that seems to violate our Community Rules. We check the video verification of every user, we immediately look into accounts that have been reported, and we have restrictions in place against any vulgar or inappropriate content on profiles. Our top priority is to maintain a safe environment for all of our users.
Tap the ‘My Account’ button in the footer, then tap the blue pencil icon located just beneath your profile picture.
Definitely record your Video Verification, and also try to complete your entire profile. Add photos and input content that shows the real YOU! Try to include your friends, family, pets and hobbies. Also, the ‘Ask Me About’ feature is a great way to show your creativity, and can be changed as often as you want to keep your conversations on Hulah fresh and exciting!
We want users to feel comfortable about the person they will be going face-to-face with. Video verification helps to minimize catfishing and inauthentic representation of users, providing added comfort. That is why we require recording one before going on Video Dates.
When recording a Video Verification it is important to follow the instructions: Record your face within the dotted circle, and say your name. If you do not abide by these instructions, your video may be rejected, but don’t worry, you can always re-record it!
‘Ask Me About’ shows your hobbies, interests and creativity. It also provides conversation starters to keep your Video Dates lively, and full of conversation! Have fun with these!

Go to ‘My Account’, then tap the blue pencil icon. On this screen tap ‘View Profile’ to see your Profile as others see it.

Make sure that you have good wireless or data connection, and if that doesn’t work try closing out the App and reopening it. If that doesn’t work, delete the App and reinstall. Finally, if that doesn’t work please Contact Us.

Go to the settings on your IOS or Android phone. Scroll down to the apps and find Hulah. Tap Hulah and make sure that ‘Allow Camera’ and ‘Allow Notifications’ are both turned on.
Our mission is to bring back face-to-face interaction as the first form of communication, so we provide two-way messaging only after Video Dating. However, if you tap the 3 dot menu next to anyone on your Matches screen, you can send preset quick messages before you Video Date, so that you can show interest and communicate beforehand :)
You can send a preset quick message to another user before you Video Date them! These are accessed by tapping the 3 dot menu next to the Video Date call button on the ‘Matches’ screen. Please see our walkthrough tutorial video for a visual!
You can either tap the 3 dot menu next to anyone on your ‘Matches’ screen to send a preset message, or you can go into the ‘Edit Profile’ screen and share when you’re usually available. Lastly, you can simply try to Video Date one of your Matches! If they don’t answer, they will receive a missed call notification, and will call you back when they can :)
The quick message is a way to show interest in another user, and also to respond in case you missed their attempt to contact you.
We deliver all available users to other users that fit each other’s Preferences. If you’re having trouble getting matches, try recording your Video Verification and updating your Profile content including changing your photos and your ‘Ask Me About’ entries. The more complete your Profile is, the better chance you have of generating interest. There is an abundance of really great people on Hulah, so keep on Grazing! If you’ve thinned out the herd, we suggest adjusting your ‘Preferences’ to see new users, or be patient with us as we continue to bring on new users everyday! For more information, check out Hulah Success Tips.
You can set yourself to ‘Away Mode’ by tapping the toggle in the top right of the ‘Matches’ screen. When ‘Away Mode’ is on, it will display as green, and other users will not be able to Video Date you. Your call button will display a blue moon to show them that you are not available. However, they can send you Quick Messages. If you have been on ‘Away Mode’ for 3 days or more, we will send you a notification to remind you, in the event that you had simply forgotten to turn it off. We don’t want you missing out on Video Dates!
If one of your matches suddenly disappears, it is most likely because they have decided to unmatch you, or their account has been deleted.
If this happens to you, please Contact Us.
We’re sorry, but once you’ve unmatched a user, you cannot undo it. This is a permanent action. Don’t worry though, there will be plenty of other people to Video Date with!
Tap the 3 dot menu at the top right corner of the user’s profile that you want to report or block. Safety and comfort are our highest priorities, so please tell us in as much detail as you can why you decided to block or report that user.
You will be shown users that fit what you chose in your ‘Preferences’. If you see people you don’t want to see, go into your ‘Preferences’ and make sure your location, choices and distance are set the way you prefer.
Once you’ve deleted a match, intentionally or unintentionally, there is no undoing this action, but don’t let it get you down! There are so many other people out there just like you that are searching so keep on Grazing!
We’d hate to see you go, but if you need to delete your account you can do so by going to ‘My Account’, then ‘Settings’, then scroll to the bottom and tap ‘Delete Account’.
